MoneyBook privacy policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
MoneyBook is an offline money manager. This policy explains what happens to your information.
What we collect
Nothing. MoneyBook has no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising SDK and no crash reporting. We, the developers, never receive your data.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter (transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, goals, debts, events, notes and receipt photos) is stored only in the app's private storage on your device.
- Android Auto Backup (if enabled on your device): Android may include the ledger database and settings in your Google account backup. Your passcode hash and receipt photos are excluded. Google handles this backup under its own policy.
- Export: "Export everything" writes a file to a location you choose. You can protect it with a passphrase (AES-256 encryption). Once exported, the file is under your control.
- Sharing into MoneyBook: text you share into MoneyBook (for example a bank SMS) is read only to prefill the Add screen. It is not stored unless you save the transaction.
Purchases
MoneyBook is a paid app bought on Google Play before download. Google processes that payment under the Google Privacy Policy; the app has no in-app purchases and no payment code.
Permissions
- Notifications: reminders, bill and budget alerts, the optional quick-add and Today notifications.
- Exact alarms (optional): on-time card payment alerts.
- Biometric: optional unlock with your fingerprint or face. Android handles biometric data; the app never sees it.
- Storage (Android 9 and older): saving exports to the Download folder.
- Notification access (optional, off by default): if you turn on "Capture from bank notifications", MoneyBook reads notifications only from the apps you pick (for example your bank) to find the amount, currency and merchant of a payment. Every other notification is ignored. Nothing is stored except the transaction you approve, and nothing leaves your phone. You can turn it off in the app or in Android's Notification access settings. MoneyBook never reads SMS messages.
- No internet permission: the app can't send anything anywhere.
Children
MoneyBook is not directed to children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
Changes and contact
We'll update this page when the app changes. Questions: the developer contact on this app's Google Play listing.
